Build your English verb list! It's a great tool for improving your English!
Verbs are words that describe actions. Can you think of words to add to your English verb list? Of course you can, all you have to do is think about any kind of action you can take and then search for the English translation of the word you choose in your own language. Your day is full of actions, you start (verb) by getting up (verb), then you might prepare (verb) breakfast. After breakfast you will probably go (verb) to work or school. So, rather than create a list of verbs in alphabetical order just like most conventional approaches, think about the actions that you may need to describe when you use English depending on the context you have in mind. Example list topic 1 - In the morning, at home:I get up at 6.00 am. I take a shower and then I prepare breakfast. Example list topic 2 - Every day in work:I answer the phone, I write letters and I visit clients. Example list topic 3 - A lunch time: I usually arrive at the restaurant at 1.00 pm and I immediately order my favourite meal. So, to help you to identify the most useful verbs according to your needs we are going to build a series of verb groups that are organised in a way that you simply will not find anywhere else, either in printed material or on the internet. It couldn't be easier! Just choose a context, think of the action words and find their translations in English by using our
on-line dictionary
to add them to your list.
Building an English verb list is just one way to improve your English. You can also focus some attention on idioms to make your language more natural. Idioms are expressions that are typically used by native English speakers so even if you only learn to understand them to get started your comprehension will improve dramatically.
